Dear Valued Customers,
As you watch the news you will find there is no shortage of updates or regulations regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) in recent days. We are actively monitoring and following the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization and CDC, as well as the state and local health authorities of the communities we serve.
We would like to address a question that has been presented to us. “Will heat kill the Coronavirus?” Some of you may have received marketing information insinuating that heat will kill Coronavirus (COVID-19) – this is unconfirmed by any government health agency to date. Unfortunately, studies on the new virus are very limited at this point. Right now, resources are primarily being directed to finding a vaccine and antidote. There are some studies being conducted regarding the killing of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on surfaces by temperatures over a certain degree; however, there is no verification of this from the CDC as of this time.
It should be noted that some strands of virus’ have been proven to be killed with high heat as cited by the WHO in this article: First data on stability and resistance of SARS coronavirus compiled by members of WHO laboratory network.
Virus survival in cell-culture supernatant
Heat at 56°C kills the SARS coronavirus at around 10000 units per 15 min (quick reduction). Along with other professionals, Professor Dr. Günter Kampfhas stated that thermal disinfection is quite effective but the key parameters (temperature, humidity, duration of exposure) still need to be identified for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
We want to be very cautious to disseminate only information that is confirmed by an appropriate official. What we can tell you with all certainty is that our heaters are designed to bring the ambient air temperature in a room up to 140° F. Maintaining that temperature for specified lengths of time successfully kills many various insects and harmful spores.
As the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, we will be sure to update you if there is any hard data supporting heat as it relates to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
While many trade shows are being cancelled, our heaters can still be purchased online or by phone, 855-928-4776 . You have relied on us for several years now for your bed bug heater needs, and we plan to continue providing the same reliable equipment and professional service you have come to count on from Bed Bug Heat Doctor/PrevSol.
Please know that we are keeping those affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our thoughts and prayers as we closely watch the evolving situation.
