MIAMI Getting rid of a lawsuit that stars bed bugs bite at Trump National Doral Miami wasnt necessarily on President Donald Trumps immediate to-do list, so his people in Miami did that for him!
While Trump deals with the fallouts of a one-scandal-a-day stretch in D.C., his company that owns the famed resort agreed to an out-of-court settlement with New Jersey insurance executive Eric Linder.
Linder, 64, was at the resort in March 2016 when he woke up from a night in the fancy Jack Nicklausthemed villa with his back, arms and neck perforated in numerous places by bed bugs.
A thoroughly creeped out Linder said he headed for the nearest 24h clinic as soon as he understood he was the victim of an insect feeding frenzy and went through a round of antibiotics to make sure thered be no infection. He also had to lather himself in an anti-bacterial ointment that has to cover him for a full day.
Linder, who travels extensively, also left the content of his suitcase at the hotel when he went back to Joysey, just in case Trumps insects shared the presidents tendency to travel up and down the coast on someone elses dime.
Ironically, Linder was upgraded to the villa after he was moved from his original room when a water pipe upstairs from him burst.
Linder sued in September in a Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, asking for more than $15,000 in damages for his pain and suffering.
According to papers filed in response to the complaint, the resorts defense was that Linder conducted himself so carelessly and negligently that his conduct was the sole proximate cause (of the injuries). Trumps lawyers didnt give any explanation on just how it was Linders fault.
Linder declined comment on how he feels about the resolution, which was not made public.
Trumps lawyers didnt respond to a request for comment.
